LG Develops 18 inch Flexible OLED Newspaper
Those who will be attending the major tech event in Las Vegas from Wednesday will be keen to see what has changed since it first revealed the screen previous year when it was revealed the relatively small OLED panel measuring 3cm across with a resolution of 1,200 by 810 pixel resolution.
It’s thought the TVs could go into production later this year an LG spokesman confirming: “We should be able to supply a satisfactory volume to our clients from July or August, which means we’re hoping to buckle down production as well as promotion from the third quarter”.
LG announced that it was working on the thin, rollable screen back in 2014. As a result, some critics say that its products get behind the Samsung Galaxy series, which use active OLED display panels, in terms of display hardware specifications.
As we already mentioned, LG is not the only tech giant that is working on foldable displays, Sony, Samsung and Sharp already showed off prototypes similar to the one developed by the South Korean company.
According to Engadget, LG is also planning to release a paper-thin 55-inch OLED TV as well as a 55-inch display that can show images on both its sides. New 11.6-inch and 23-inch touchscreen monitors will be used to demonstrate the technology in notebooks.
LG’s other stunning CES exhibit will be an 18 inch rollable OLED TV which LG calls a “newspaper” TV. We will bring you the latest news from the CES 2016 that is slated to commence from January 5.
