LG Display unveils 65-inch UHD rollable LED panel
LG avoided using voice commands with the later keynote demo of their hotel service robots, instead opting to have them do complex maneuvers such as… turning around.
CES 2017 was the first year in which Sony rolled out its very own 4K OLED TV. LG also showed off a monstrous 8K screen boasting four times the resolution of Ultra HD and an 88-inch screen size – but no price or release date just yet. The 8K resolution provides intense pixel density, making the visual crystal-clear and stunning. That’s a huge screen that might actually benefit from 8K resolution compared to 4K.
LG Display will introduce OLED displays used in various aspects of everyday life, not only highlighting picture quality but also a range of applications and design, so that customers can directly experience the value of OLED.
How the OLED screen is able to completely roll away while still remaining rigid while it’s being unfurled is a secret LG Display wasn’t willing to share with anyone. If LG’s display standard catches on, TVs could be easily carried around in light, tube-shaped cases.
LG has already let the cat out of the bag for what will undoubtably be one of the most talked-about TVs at CES 2018. In the promo images, LG shows the top section of the OLED remaining visible to display helpful information like the weather and news. Samsung may produce fantastic QLED TVs but most critics still prefer the OLED TVs that have recently come out.
Last year, the firm successfully developed a 77-inch transparent OLED display. The new OLED G8 in particular is extremely thin, as shown in some of the images in the gallery below.
If a 75-inch TV isn’t big enough for you, Sony has the answer. You could just roll it up like paper and take it with you anywhere. Sticking to Sony’s wonderfully consistent naming sequence for its TVs, the new models are called the X900F-Series (as opposed to 2017’s X900E-Series, or 2016 900D) and they will represent this year’s replacements to the X900E.
Elsewhere, the majority of LG’s Super UHD LCD 4K TVs have moved from edge-based local dimming to full-array local dimming.
