LG may launch the G5 next month
We’re less than a week removed from CES 2016, but that hasn’t stopped LG teasing its offerings for the next big tech show of the year.
If Samsung won’t be taking the stage at the Mobile World Congress, LG will definitely grab the opportunity and show off the new flagship G series phone.
The official unveiling for the LG G5 is set to happen on February 21, 2016, during a Sunday press day right before MWC 2016, which will open its gates on February 22 in Barcelona, Spain, as said on the press invites that were rolled out a few days prior to the confirmation.
LG is among the OEMs looking forward to take advantage of the MWC to unveil their latest and greatest, and we’re expecting a “playful” LG G5 to make its debut next month.
The LG G4 was the only major flagship phone that kept a removable battery after the Samsung Galaxy S6 dropped it.
The news about the release came as many were speculating that LG would be releasing their next model earlier than expected and the invite sent out for the MWC event confirms that.
Highlights include a new “Magic Slot” for “hardware expansion”, a QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) spread over a 5.3-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 3 GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel main camera with laser autofocus and RGB sensor, and a 2,880 mAh battery.
But other than the date, there’s not much we officially know about the phone.
