LG Najeeb Jung rejects DCW chief’s appointment

In an interview to NDTV, Maliwal also said that she has been asked not to sign on files. All she has is the notification from the Delhi government of her appointment, and plans to go by that.

“LG office denied making any phone call to DCW”. Soon after this, Maliwal said that her name plate was removed from the office and files were taken back from her table. “A lock will be put at the office tomorrow”, she tweeted. “I think the issue will be resolved”, she told PTI. CM Arvind Kejriwal has taken the decision to appoint Maliwal as per the Constitution and law.

Another LG-AAP tussle?

A top official said, “We will give appropriate reply to the LG”.

Maliwal took over as the new DCW chairperson along with members including Promila Gupta, Farheen Malik and Sarika Chaudhary.

According to procedure, the file clearing the appointment of the DCW chief is sent to the Lt-Governor for approval, which apparently was not followed in the present case, a leading daily reported quoting sources. “I hope I will get it”.

“All statutory notifications for the reconstitution of the DCW in the past had the approval of the Lt. Governor of Delhi”. I am doing my work.

Meanwhile, she also tweeted that detaching her from DCW won’t let her morale down and she will continue working for women rights in future.
