LG Rivals GoPro With LTE-Capable Action Camera That Streams To YouTube
LG Action CAM will release in Korea next month and will be available in the United Kingdom shortly thereafter.
The compact action camera is ridden with features that are created to take down the best cameras of rival GoPro, including a fully waterproof case and the ability to live stream videos directly to YouTube through its LTE cellular capabilities.
Among the LG Action CAMLTE features are: a 1/2.3-inch 12.3MP / 1.55 x 1.55㎛pixel sensor; LTE/3G/Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n/USB Type-C 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity; video recording at UHD/30fps, FHD/60fps. However, unlike any GoPro camera on the market, the LG Action CAM LTE is equipped with built-in LTE, allowing users to stream video content on popular video sharing websites straight from the camera itself, without requiring a smartphone to be connected. Apart from streaming your adventures, the LG Action CAM LTE can also be used as a dashcam or a CCTV surveillance camera. LG claims that the device can record up to four hours of 1080p footage using microSD storage, while its durable design keeps it completely protected from dust and allows it to be immersed in up to one meter of water for as long as 30 minutes. An optional mount will also be sold that will allow users to mount the device to helmets, bicycles, cars and other objects for live video use. A completely waterproof case (available in the third quarter) will enable the camera to participate in wetter activities such as surfing and scuba diving. Action CAM LTE users can download recorded images and videos on their paired smartphones. It’s also equipped with a pretty sizable (for an action cam) battery of 1,400mAH, with it also being equipped with a 150-degree wide angle lens and Global Positioning System.
On Thursday, LG announced a new “Friend” for its LG Playground ecosystem: the LG Action CAM. LG’s decision to include an accelerometer and gyroscope could bring some additional software benefits in the future. LG has revealed that it will only announce the pricing and availability details of the LG Action Cam LTE next month in South Korea.
