LG’s Nexus 5X out now
Models pose as they hold up Google Inc.’s new Nexus 5X, manufactured by LG Electronics Inc., in Seoul on October 19, 2015.
LG Nexus 5X LG-H791 will be available via online retailer Amazon and select offline stores.
The new Nexus phones feature an enhanced camera that performs far better indoors. (Typically, signing up for Project Fi requires receiving an invite from Google, then waiting for approval.) The larger Nexus 6P should become available shortly as well. It benefits from a 5.2-inch 1080p full HD display, a hexa core Snapdragon 808 processor and 2GB worth of RAM.
The 5X is one of two LG-made phones Google unveiled at the end of September in a bid to compete with Apple’s latest iPhone launch. You get good specs, a terrific build, the latest version of Android, and a few cool technology that future proofs the phone. The first is a finger print scanner support, and an actual finger print scanner for the nexus 5x and 6P.
With a crystal clear screen that is 5.7 inches, WQHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, Gorilla Glass 4, the Google Nexus 6P also has fingerprint and smudge-resistant oleophobic coating to protect the screen from unintentional scratches and stains.
The Verge points out that Google has been running prime-time adverts for the 5X and 6P on U.S. television – suggesting that Google is aiming for garner more mass consumer appeal than its flagship devices have had in the past.
Also released today is the the Nexus 6P, a bigger phone that’s not quite as pocket-friendly as the 5X.
If you’re looking to buy the Nexus 5X elsewhere, you can pick it up at Carphone Warehouse, Clove, Unlocked Mobiles, Mobiles.co.uk, John Lewis, and EE. Let us know in the comments.
Google is offering the Nexus 5X in carbon black, quartz white and ice blue color options at a price of $379 for the 16GB model and $429 for the 32GB variant.
