LG smartphone owners get free high-res audio tracks
Very few music services offer Hi-Fi quality tracks and the market is more or less dominated by Sony thanks to its Walkman brand. That is, if they have a premium smarpthone, which LG qualifies to include only the G Flex 2, the G2, the G3 and the G4.
LG’s new service will deliver music playback at 24-bit/192kHz, which is roughly six times richer than typical CD quality – and well beyond the MP3 streaming standard of Spotify and its ilk. LG’s Hi-Fi music service is supported to those devices which are compatible with 24-bit/192KHz audio tracks. The service will be available in 70 countries, including the US, the UK, Australia, Brazil, Russia, China and Italy.
“Our Hi-Fi music service reflects our ongoing commitment to providing additional customer benefits to loyal LG customers”, said LG Mobile Communications Company marketing communication head and VP Chris Yie. The Hi-Fi music service will be made available via www.lgworld.com as well as through the LG SmartWorld app on selected LG phones.
Today, LG has announced the launch of its own Hi-Fi music service, specifically for LG smartphone owners.
Aside from lossless streaming audio services like Jay Z’s Tidal, which was revamped earlier this year, and Deezer, other streaming music providers include Google Play Music, Apple Music and a host of others.
The high quality playback will be at 24bit/192kHz. After that, user needs to pay per download with 50% discount on the original price. The service is also accessible via the LG World website.
