LG To Unveil New “Super UHD” TV Range Next Month
We’re talking of course about the upcoming launch of LG’s new select 4K “Super UHD” TVs which will start shipping in the U.S market in the early spring.
LG will introduce two models with advanced IPS LCD displays – the 65-inch UH9500 and the 86-inch UH9550. These new models will be a welcome change from what has been a year of less than stellar contrast reviews for LG LCD TV models.
The three Super UHD models are the UH9500 (55-86 inches), the UH8500 (55-75 inches) and the UH7700 (49-65 inches).
In a recently published report, technology magazine Verge said, “Appearing forward-looking is important as more and more TV makers continue upgrading their lineups to 4K and begin looking for new technology terminology to attach to their latest products”. Nevertheless, it will be quite a treat to watch any of these clips on the new HDR-enabled sets from LG with improved IPS panels that reduce reflections and maximize contrast by separating objects from their backgrounds.
“We are the only company with a dual strategy focused on both OLED and UHD TV technologies”, said Brian Kwon, president/CEO of LG’s home entertainment company. So if you have 4K HDR video content then you will be able to distinguish between the lightest light and darkest dark on these TVs.
HDR-compatible HDMI ports and an SDR-to-HDR conversation engine also allows viewers to enjoy near-HDR content from any source.
To enhance colour reproduction, LG’s ColorPrime Plus magnifies the range of colours that can be displayed on the screen.
The UF9500 and UF8500 will feature Color Prime Plus, essentially an expanded palette of colors users can view.
The UH9500- and UH8500-series sets get LG’s Color Prime Plus technology, which achieves a wide color gamut thanks to both phosphor-coated LEDs and an improved color filter.
The models will also feature a Flat Ultra Slim design, with the UH9500 being the thinnest of all time for LG at just 6.6 mm thick. And the UH9500 is second to none when it comes to sound. The company has also upgraded its existing Magic Sound Tuning function to deliver an enhanced audio experience from the new range.
LG’s 98-inch 8K Super UHD TV (UH9800) first made an appearance as a prototype before, but now the television is production-ready.
The company is expected to announce a new lineup of OLED televisions at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this coming week, along with the prices of the new televisions. For more information, visit.
