LG Unveils the V20 Flagship
LG is something of a quiet player in the mobile market, but that could be set to change with the launch of the LG V20 – the first smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. The new handset – which was press previewed by LG executives in New York City – is called the LG V20.
The V20 features Quad DAC, which according to LG provides a much cleaner audio playback.
The phone comes with two cameras on the back, one standard 16 megapixel camera and one wide-angle 8 megapixel camera, which are similar to that fitted to the company’s G5 smartphone. The V20 also supports microSD storage expansion cards and carries a larger removable battery pack at 3,200 mAh.
A Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM was the most expected part of the hardware configuration, though it was highly possible that LG could have gone with a Snapdragon 821 and higher amounts of RAM, though it would have been pointless at that time.
The V20 offers a 5.7 inch display, metal body, replaceable battery and beefed-up audio capabilities with new chipsets and through a partnership with audio equipment maker Bang & Olufsen A/S.
South Korean technology giant LG has launched its latest smartphone in the “V series” at an event in San Francisco.
LG V20 doesn’t follow the design language of the V10 or the G5, it follows the composite design language of both the aforementioned smartphones.
LG V20 also offers Steady Record 2.0.
The V20 will be available in a choice of titan or silver colours.
The second screen might not sound like something you’d use, but since it provides a separate space for your notifications, it actually would come in handy. The V20 adds video recording improvements, but may not be enough to please shutterbugs. And if that is not enough, LG has chose to up its game by adding Qualcomm’s new Steady Record 2.0 electronic image stabilization (EIS). Worldwide versions of the V20 include enhanced B&O Play audio, but USA versions will allegedly not (although the US version will feature a 32-bit Quad DAC). Announced just last week, this feature will let users of the V20 search for photos, contacts, as well as videos across all Google apps, including YouTube, as well as other third party apps.
As for the price on the V20, LG didn’t say a word – so we should expect it to be priced at around $700, which is where the V10 sits.
In terms of style, the LG V20 looks more like the G5 than its previous variant, right down to the dual cameras on its back.
