LG unwraps new premium smartphone
LG typically promotes its latest smartphones at the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in late February, but it said it delayed about two months this time to ensure better quality of the new devices. It is still unclear, when the smartphone will be available in India. Android Oreo runs out of the box with LG’s custom skin on top. “Price and purchase details will be announced locally closer to the time of availability”, says LG.
However, you will not have to worry about this with the LG G7 ThinQ.
When LG announced that the G6 would sport a 18:9 aspect ratio we were puzzled but soon after that announcement the aspect ratio became nearly normal. This gives the phone a more traditional look and hides the notch away.
The phone comes with glass on both the front and rear which supports wireless charging.
LG claims that low light photography on the G7 ThinQ is better still with the Super Bright Camera feature. It has 6.1 inch HD display along with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage.
The LG G7 ThinQ backs the screen up with some serious specs and it’s good to see that the mistakes of the LG G6 haven’t been repeated here. The rest of the specifications remain the same. LG G7 ThinQ comes with a 6.1-inch LCD display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels, along with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. If you need more capacity the handset supports microSD cards up to 1TB. The camera setup consists of a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and another 16MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture. Below those cameras is a fingerprint reader, and around front is an 8MP wide angle f/1.9 camera. The phone sports an 8-megapixel lens on the front. LG’s say their signature wide-angle camera now captures even more handsome landscapes with less edge distortion. The AI Cam will be able to analyze subjects in a photo, and provide tips on how to improve the photo. There is also a Super Bright camera mode for automatic brightness adjustment in low-light conditions.
Sadly LG opted to fit the phone with a smaller battery – a 3,000mAh unit in fact. Users can also hold down the button to start talking to the Google Assistant.
In the audio department, the device has a Boombox Speaker which uses internal space as a resonance chamber to deliver double the bass of conventional smartphones, LG says. The LG G7 ThinQ is IP68 Dust and Water resistant as well.
Connectivity features of the phone include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C. It’s the latest Android phone to jump on the notch bandwagon, but it’s trying to reel in notch haters by allowing them to blacken out the sides of the cutout to make it blend in.
