LG Will Soon Release 23-Karat Gold Limited Edition Watch Urbane Luxe
The LG Watch Urbane Luxe comes equipped with a “deployment clasp” that lets users adjust the fitting.
Huawei struck first with an $800 gold-plated watch, but LG may make the bigger bang in the market for luxury smartwatches. Launching in late October, the Watch Urbane Luxe will sell for $1199.99. The leather strap has undergone 50 separate processes by 30 skillful leatherworkers before attaching it to the gold body, which is harder and stronger than some jewelry pieces’ 24-karat gold.
“This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch – which is becoming more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware”, Chris Yie, LG Mobile Communications Company’s Vice President and Head of Marketing Communications, said, as reported by LG Newsroom. Perhaps a little concerning to potential buyers, however, is just how similar the regular gold Watch Urbane looks: enough to confuse a few people into thinking there were actually several 23-karat models in the case.
The strap functions with a special deployment clasp, one that was inspired by Louis Cartier’s invention in 1910, which further contributes to the unit’s elegant appeal. “We think this is a good direction for wearables”. Rather than a watch that’s a smartwatch, the Watch Urbane Luxe feels like a proper timepiece for the 21st Century.
LG surprised everyone earlier this year with their LG Watch Urbane, a brand new luxury version of the LG G Watch R which came with a premium price tag.
Each of the 500 limited edition watches will be engraved with its own serial number, is accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, and is available for pre-order at www.REEDS.com or by visiting any REEDS Jewelers location.
