LG Wine Smart Android Flip Phone To Launch Internationally

LG today announced that it’s going to release an Android-based flip phone (aka clamshell) in various markets around the world.
As far as specifications are concerned, the LG Wine Smart features a HVGA (480×320 pixels) display, and is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. In terms of memory, the LG Wine Smart comes with 4GB internal storage as standard, along with a microSD card slot for additional expansion when needed. The Wine Smart includes LG’s Safety Care feature which can be set to automatically transmit emergency alerts and real-time location to pre-selected contacts whenever the user needs immediate assistance. After flipping open the handset, users will discover Android 5.1.1 Lollipop running on its 3.5-inch touchscreen.
The LG Wine Smart is LG’s latest effort to stay competitive in a fierce smartphone landscape. In terms of availability, LG have confirmed that the LG Wine Smart will make its debut across worldwide regions later this month. The first countries to get the phone will be the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Kazakhstan, and Japan. As indicated by LG, its devices have grown in popularity in North America, where sales were up 36 percent year over year. Likewise, there were no firm details on pricing given during the announcement. To truly optimize the new Wine Smart for flip phone fans, LG included a large physical 3×4 numeric keypad for easy and accurate typing and hotkeys that provide instant access to frequently used features such as phone dialer, address book, text messages or camera.
