Liam Hemsworth thinks Jennifer Lawrence is ‘terrible’ at walking
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” is now showing in theatres worldwide where the final chapter of the book and movie franchise comes to an end.
Although Jennifer Lawrence hasn’t earned an Oscar for her performances as Katniss Everdeen, no one can mock her “Hunger Games” role.
Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers sums up what he thinks makes “Mockingjay – Part 2” better than “Part 1”: “The good news is that ‘Mockingjay – Part 2, ‘ the big finale, has quit the ass-dragging in favor of what made the book a page-turner”.
“In ‘Mockingjay 2, ‘ it’s really the first time that she embraces being the symbol of this revolution”, she added.
It’s a bold claim to say that this final Hunger Games is the most brutal of the four films considering it’s a series about kids being thrown into an arena and forced to kill one another for sport.
While the films are not centered on romance, Katniss does have two love interests, Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), that are severely affected by the war. The movie begins with a close-up shot of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), battered from her reunion with the hijacked Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).
Being the amusing person she is, JLaw jokingly spoke about her attire of the night saying, “I don’t know how I’m going to sit to look demure and thin, ‘ she said”. Like the “Harry Potter” and the “Twilight Saga”, the “Hunger Games” franchise also chose to divide the final book, “Mockingjay”, into two films. These closing words are definitely something for all of the viewers to hold onto as they walk away, and it’s certainly something that I will try to keep with me. “She went down and luckily no one saw because it was at the back of the theater…I picked her up, she now only has one heel so I’m walking her out”. The crowd I saw the movie with clapped at the end. The Hunger Games franchise has been pretty thorough in its examination of the human psyche when placed under intense, overwhelming survival situations, and he would need to find a new way to tell such a story.
Let’s talk about the explosions, since they seem to be the only thing that happens in the movie.
It is refreshing to see a lot of themes – and relevant themes, at that – being touched upon in a young adult adaptation. In the due course of time the series has become and integral part of her life too. She’s working from a limited palette – Katniss is supposed to be bad with people, a contrast to the much more sensitive and personable Peeta – but she takes advantage of every brush in her arsenal.
