Finally, reporters present at the rally say that they heard some supporters saying “He’s a Muslim guy” at a different protester, who was carried out.
In the week since GOP front-runner Donald Trump called for a temporary yet “total and complete” ban on Muslims entering the United States, the nation has been catapulted into a divisive discussion about religion, immigration and xenophobia.
Last month, a Black Lives Matter activist Mercutio Southall Jr. was punched and forcefully removed from a campaign rally in Birmingham, Alabama.
“I became increasingly agitated because they were trying to pin illegal or undocumented persons as the source of all of the problems in America”, he told Refinery29. “He also said Trump uses “‘dog whistle language’ to divide the country”.
Trump, at times, acknowledged the protesters dismissively.
The New York businessman owns a Trump hotel in this city, but a campaign spokeswoman told The Daily Caller the campaign chose to hold the event at the Westgate because they were “expecting a much larger crowd than the event space at Trump can accommodate”.
As one man was dragged away, Trump supporters variously yelled, “Shoot him!”
Along with Austin being kicked out of the Trump rally, Amanda Staten and Jonas Rand were also kicked out.
Security guards removed several other protesters from Tuesday’s rally as supporters chanted “Trump!”. He described it as “unlike any political event I’ve ever seen”, and he and others captured a number of incidents on video.
While it would be easy to blame the Nazi-era salute on another protester, the fact remains that Trump enjoys the endorsement of several white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups and it’s not outside the realm of possibility that these supporters attend his rallies.
“Paris has the toughest gun control just about in the entire world”, Trump said. As protesters were being dragged out of the rally by security, they were physically accosted by the attendees. “Thousands of people are pouring in and we have to get rid of one person”, Trump said.
“People are too hung up on rhetoric”, Jedlicka said. Ted Cruz of Texas improving their numbers among potential voters, Trump said he expected to win Iowa and Nevada.
