Lil Wayne Tour Bus Shooter Sentenced To 20 Years
After accepting the plea, Cobb Superior Court Judge Mary E. Staley sentenced the defendant to 20 years, with 10 years to serve in prison and the rest on probation.
Previously, Jimmy Carlton had opened a fire on the 33-year-old rapper’s tour bus following his performance in an Atlanta nightclub. Nobody was injured, and it was never determined whether Wayne was inside any of the buses, but the gunshots did cause $20,000 in damage, the AJC said.
The shooting took place in the early morning hours on April 26, after Lil Wayne performed a show at Compound night club in Atlanta. The indictment noted that, five days before the shooting, Young Thug posted an Instagram video that appeared to threaten Lil Wayne; Winfrey and weapons were seen in that video. Birdman denied any involvement.
Police said in an arrest warrant that they believe Winfrey fired on the tour buses to increase his standing in the Bloods gang; the warrant adds that Winfrey has always been an associate of several Bloods members and claims that Lil Wayne is a “rival rap artist”.
Winfery is the former road manager for rapper Young Thug.
50 mocked Atlanta’s judicial system for giving Winfrey jail time when no one was hurt, acting out scenes in which he himself might go to jail for nearly shooting someone in ATL.
