Limited pot sales begin Thursday in Oregon
While residents could use it, purchasing from a store hasn’t been possible.
According to the OLCC, the state now projects $10.7 million in revenue for the 2015-2017 biennium. “There is no known safe amount of marijuana use during pregnancy”.
What is changing October. 1? Oregon legalized recreational marijuana consumption when it passed Measure 91 last November.
“We were really expecting a few good sales, once recreational hit”, Toepfer said.
Who can buy recreational cannabis? Customers must provide a valid, government-issued photo ID as proof of age. They can be purchased only through medical marijuana dispensaries that have agreed to participate in the program.
This week it was announced that Oregon will be expunging the old records of marijuana offenders, along with their new legalization plan. It is true that the state needs to quickly adopt guidelines for recreational pot sales outlets so this temporary fix will no longer be necessary.
Prices for pot could vary.
What about edibles? Can I buy those? The OLCC is still working on regulations for retail sales of those products.
There is also a limit as to how much marijuana can be purchased.
Wait, who is regulating recreational sales? Candy bars and brownies, as well as extracts, concentrates and marijuana-infused products are not available in early sales.
Such was the case with the Newberg City Council on September 21, when it considered a resolution that would have allowed medical marijuana dispensaries to sell to recreational users until December 2016. But the state won’t be ready to begin regulated sales until next year. At that point, a 25 percent sales tax will take effect. The state tax should be 17% and local cities or counties can enact an additional 3% tax, bringing the total to 20%.
Where in Oregon are pot sales banned? But do not forget to bring cash; marijuana remains illegal under federal law, so business banking options remain very limited and credit cards are not generally accepted. This, of course, means no violations for distributing marijuana.
Is there something we missed?
