Lingering flight delays remain in the wake of blizzard
Meanwhile, PATH service between Newark and Journal Square remains suspended Tuesday morning.
Residual delays from New York City and Washington, D.C., were felt at Logan Airport on Monday, after more than 12,000 flights nation-wide were grounded across the nation.
About 34 flights – or 50 percent of the departures and arrivals at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport – were canceled between Saturday and Sunday night as airports elsewhere battled monstrous snowfall, said Executive Director Carl Beardsley.
Passengers who rescheduled their flights for Tuesday, assuming the bad weather would have passed, may be out of luck. However, at LaGuardia and Newark, “snow removal efforts are hampering operations”, Delta said.
“That got cancelled. And Saturday, got cancelled again”.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is reporting that some of their airline flights resumed late Sunday and the airlines will continue to resume routine operations today.
Delta expects to operate a full schedule throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northeast with a few exceptions Monday, according to the Associated Press.
On Monday as of 3 p.m., 18 arriving flights were canceled and seven were delayed. American Airlines reported Sunday that operations at 46 airports it serves had been affected by the snow dump.
A winter blizzard that rocked the east coast is still causing delays and cancellations at Chicago’s airports.

Among those still seeing higher-than-average cancellation rates on Monday: Philadelphia; Baltimore; Boston; Raleigh/Durham; Indianapolis; Pittsburgh; Harrisburg, Pa.; Portland, Maine; Burlington, Vt.; Columbus, Ohio, Richmond, Va.; and a number of others. “Passengers should check with their airlines for information about their specific flights”, a media statement said.
