Link Android Phone To PC With Latest Windows 10 Preview

Microsoft today said its latest Windows 10 upgrade, the “Creators Update”, is suitable for broad deployment by businesses, marking an important milestone for the edition and simultaneously setting its retirement in 14 months. The company has said that support for iPhone users will be out soon as now, this application is only available for Android.

Mary Jo Foley over at ZDNet reported last night that “Microsoft also added a feature that allows users to link their phones to PCs”. For example, you would say: “Hey Cortana, restart PC”. Installation completes the link between the two devices and enables cross browsing scenarios for now.

Included as a part of Windows 10 Mobile Insider build 15235, this new feature enables portrait mode orientation in Continuum, a feature which was widely needed by users who have been asking since forever.

Yep, simply visit the Windows 10 settings page to find a new “Phone” menu item, which lets you link your phone to the PC.

The feature is exclusive to Android right now, with iOS coming soon.

Windows 10 version 1703, known as Creators Update, will be the first SAC release, Microsoft said.

As its name suggests, the new Skip Ahead feature allows Insiders to “skip ahead” and install the next pre-scheduled build, which means that they will be working with some pretty advanced things from a calendar perspective. At Build, Microsoft revealed a brand new feature dubbed Pick up Where I Left Off (PWILO) that Microsoft apps will support out-of-the-box. Cortana will also now support voice commands like “Hey Cortana, shutdown my PC”.

Tapping on the option will immediately open the website on the linked PC.

So while home users will be free to download Microsoft Paint from the Windows Store and put it back where it belongs, office workers around the world will be deprived of their impromptu creative sessions once Paint is severed from Windows as standard.

One of the first uses is called “cross-browsing”.
