Lionel Messi: Barcelona star shows of pyjama gift from Luis Suarez
Barcelona star Lionel Messi is not having the best of times after injuring his knee against Las Palmas – and Luis Suarez has added insult to injury by buying him a Grumpy pyjama set.
Messi had begun the season in impressive fashion, scoring six goals in 10 appearances for the La Liga giants, before sustaining the injury in the 2-1 win at the end of September.
However, the Argentina superstar has continued his recovery and regularly keeps his fans in the loop via his Instagram page.
And Messi has revealed the gift which team-mate Suarez bought him by posing for a picture in the green pyjama set.
Alongside the picture, he wrote the caption: ‘Thanks to my friend @luissuarez9 for the pyjamas gift !!! What I did not understand, why the grumpy face?’
The choice of character, from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, has left Messi puzzled as he faces a race to be fit in time for the crunch clash with bitter rivals Real Madrid on November 22.
Meanwhile, another Barcelona team-mate, Neymar, believes this year’s Ballon d’Or is reserved for Messi.
Suarez, who is still banned from playing on his national team over the incident last summer, said the remark in absolute seriousness, clearly not recognizing its irony.
While Fabio Cannavaro’s list of honours is not quite as long as Matthaus’s, it is nonetheless remarkable given that the Italian is the only defender ever to have been crowned Federation Internationale de Football Association World Player of the Year.
Matthaus does not believe the situation will change this time around.
Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr.is a relieved man after winning so many trophies in his first year in Barcelona and having no issue with any player especially Lionel Messi which most sports pundits and writers believed he would have problems with. He had only been at the club for three months when he suffered knee ligament damage that ruled him out for most of the season.
“Nevertheless, his goal tally, spectacular play and the successes he has celebrated with Barcelona speak for themselves”.
“Neymar, Sandro [Ramirez], Munir [El Haddadi] and I have to continue in the same role we were previously”, he continued.
“With Leo everything is much easier, but without him I must try and make things easy too”, Suarez said in a preview of an interview with Catalan TV3 show “Hat trick Barca.”
“Last season was incredible with the treble and now after losing a game, people start to judge us already”.
