List of winners for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards
Jennifer Lawrence arrives at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Ricky Gervais returned as host of the show after Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took over hosting duties for three years.
They give Globes to whom they want to and don’t seemed to feel too burdened to predict the bigger race, but some recent statistics tell us that a few categories might be in the bag for last night’s winners.
Tom Hanks (“Forrest Gump”) presented Denzel Washington (“Training Day”) with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, honoring his extraordinary contributions to the entertainment world.
Ennio Morricone, Best Original Score for The Hateful Eight.
Pioneer-era tale “The Revenant” won three awards: Best Drama Film, Best Drama Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio, and Best Director for Alejandro Inarritu. While its best picture chances might have lost a little steam, don’t count Damon out just. Amidst the overwhelming reaction, however, she was able to thank her husband Ned Rocknroll, her costar Michael Fassbender, director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. In the Best Foreign Movie category, Hungarian Holocaust drama Son of Saul was the victor. While Spotlight seems to be the frontrunner of Oscar predictions for best picture, The Revenant beat out Spotlight for best picture at the Golden Globes. Brie Larson took home the Globe for Best Actress Drama for her extraordinary work on Room.
Taraji P. Henson handed out cookies on her way to accept her award for Best Actress (if you don’t watch Empire, her character’s name is Cookie)… This is a show I not-so-secretly love and Rachel Bloom is the realest there is.
Mozart in the Jungle won Best Television Series in a Musical or Comedy. Best limited series went to “Wolf Hall”. Because of all involved, and the gritty subject matter, I thought the movie would do well come Oscar season.
Mad Men’s Jon Hamm won Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series Drama.
Actor, Musical or Comedy: Matt Damon, “The Martian”. Mr. Robot is a very good show, but that doesn’t mean that everyone on it is delivering good performances.
Lady Gaga won a Golden Globe for her part in American Horror Story: Hotel where she played the part of The Countess, a 115-year-old “vampire”. He wasn’t dissing Lady Gaga at all. “But music worked out first”.
