Listen to Ryan Adams’ Cover of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood”
“Ryan’s music helped shape my songwriting”, wrote Swift.
It’s hard to improve upon something so many people already consider almost flawless (bye, “Welcome to New York”, you bad blight on an otherwise great album), and if we’re being completely honest, Taylor Swift doesn’t exactly need any more promo than she already has. Still, Adams doesn’t soften the girl-fight track too much, retaining its catchiness and bouncy, upbeat sound. Lowe interrupted normal programming on the station to play the song, revealing that Adams will be in the studio on Monday at 9am PT with a “special guest”. His haunting version of the Oasis smash hit “Wonderwall” compelled Noel Gallagher to once say, “I think Ryan Adams is the only person who ever got that song right”.
Zane Lowe debuted the tune on Beats 1 Radio on Thursday, and Swift retweeted the announcement while also expressing her excitement for the upcoming project.
Adams first announced his Swiftian endeavor last month.
Swift tweeted out support of the album, calling Adams a major influence and saying the existence of this covers album is “surreal and dreamlike”.
The album is now available for pre-order before it drops on Monday.
