‘Little Boy’ Director’s Dad, Brother Found Dead
The father-in-law and brother-in-law of American actress and former Miss USA Ali Landry were found dead in Mexico after being kidnapped for ransom. My deepest condolences to my soul-brother.
A ransom was paid, but the kidnappers did not keep their word, according to a Televisa report.
Juan Manuel Gomez Monteverde and his son, also named Juan Manuel, were snatched after leaving their home in Tamaulipas, Mexico earlier this month.
Neither Landry or Monteverde have spoken publicly about the incident.
According to a statement by Veracruz state prosecutor Luis Angel Bravo Contreras to People, the two sustained traumatic brain injuries and had been dead for several days when they were found.
Latin Times reported that the filmmaker’s brother, Juan Manuel, was a business partner at a Tampico restaurant that had allegedly reported drug gang activity in the past.
Landry and Monteverde Wednesday in 2006 and have three children together. The authorities are working to investigate the cause of the deaths, and police are now doing forensic testing on the auto that they suspect the kidnappers had used.
Producer, family friend, and Tampico native Eduardo Verastegui took to Twitter to convey his condolences. Please pray for Alejandro Monteverde and his family in these devastating times after their tragic losses…
Thirty-eight weeks ago, Monteverde shared a photo on Instagram of himself with his dad in which he called him “my best friend, my life mentor, the wisest man I know”.
