Beyond the struggle for our emergence as a sovereign nation, the founding fathers of sovereign Nigeria played important roles in setting up political structures, systems of governance and drafting a constitution for the nascent country.

“We have gained democratic independence, but today, we are still economic slaves as long as we feed on imported food, live on foreign finished homes, cloth with imported garments, export our crude, import our refined petroleum products, import our drugs, medicine, weapons, tooth pick, singlets, socks and even under wears”.
Governor Ayade, who solicited the collaboration of every Cross Riverian, in making the state an economic beacon for the rest of the country, pleaded: “Let us therefore continue to team together so that we can boldly face the future with renewed confidence and vigour”.
The passengers in these vehicles also appear to represent the three major tribes – Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba – respectively, dressed in their native attires and carrying the Nigerian flag, grining and waving as they ride on. We will become a great nation again.
