Liverpool don’t need to spend in January – Klopp
JURGEN Klopp admits Liverpool need to make injury-plagued striker Daniel Sturridge more resilient before they can expect to see him play consistently.
Klopp reflected on the players due back from injury as being just as good as potential new signings, adding: “Jon Flanagan will come back in the next week, then we will have two left-backs and two right-backs”.
“That’s not how the world should run”. We have problems sometimes maybe with concentration and maybe with other things, but we don’t know if the next player we can get will do it better. Yesterday we took him on to the pitch for a warm-up and some running to feel a bit better after his cold, although it was a little it more than that.
“I’m always, not the most talented, but I’m always close to a very good atmosphere in myself so if somebody wants to join this, that would be cool”.
‘If we need something we will do it and not talk about it before, ‘ said Klopp. Of course, we also have Ingsy, but he’s not available at the moment.
“There are no more issues with the knee and everything is okay, now he has to work to be a real option for us”.
The stalemate made it four draws and two wins in Europe this season and, with the 21-year-old left-back Brad Smith enjoying an impressive full debut, Klopp had an excuse to accentuate the positives.
“We know all the players in world football”.
In freezing temperatures one side of the pitch was frozen solid – leaving numerous players to avoid running at any pace on that side – further stifling the game. If you look at his history in the last months, and maybe the previous year, it’s not a long time he’s been able to train. “Some fit us, some don’t”, he continued.
“The first thing to do tonight was to show character and show that you’re prepared for a game like this”.
Klopp said: “At the moment he is doing aerobic training”.
Who said the Europa League couldn’t be fun?
“It was the first time we were together in a situation like this and I was really satisfied with the reaction of the team”.
Liverpool face West Bromwich Albion on Sunday with Klopp eager to find the free-flowing formula against sides whose main priority is defence.
