Liverpool forward Fabio Borini confirms Fiorentina talks – Serie A 2011
There is now nearly certainly no room for Borini in the Liverpool team, with the 24-year-old performing poorly in his time at the club so far, which has also included an unspectacular loan spell at fellow Premier League side Sunderland.
Recent reports had West Ham backing out of an attempt to land Fabio Borini, with the striker’s wage demands reportedly the stumbling block.
But as yet there is no progress on a move, Borini’s agent Marco De Marchi has revealed.
Fabio Borini “has spoken to Fiorentina and will decide also based on Liverpool’s needs”, confirmed his agent. He also leaves open the possibility of the player remaining at Liverpool, though, and so in the end it really doesn’t say a whole lot of anything.
“The boy will choose by mutual agreement with Liverpool the most pleasant destination, it takes a major project, it’s Italy or overseas, we do not have any favorites, no exceptions”.
He joins Danny Ings and Divock Origi as Brendan Rodgers’ new wave of forwards, with the manager seeking to address the club’s woeful return in front of goal last season that contributed to their dismal sixth place finish.
Lambert, 33, is resigned to leaving his boyhood club just 12 months after joining from Southampton.
While he is in contention to face a Malaysian Select XI as part of Liverpool’s pre-season tour on 24 July, it is claimed West Brom have already held positive conversations with the player.
Borini is out of favour at Liverpool and widely tipped to move on from the Reds this summer, although where he might be playing his football in 2015/16 remains to be seen.
