Liverpool hold talks with Paris Saint-Germain over incredible transfer
Today, Liverpool close in on Lucas Digne….
Despite being considered one of the best young left backs in Europe at the moment, Lucas Digne has struggled to get sufficient game time with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain since joining them from Lille OSC a few years back.
Digne’s arrival would also give the squad a more balanced feel, as new signing Gomez has been asked to fill in there during pre-season but perhaps isn’t a natural option at left-back.
And amid talk that Digne is desperate to change clubs, Canal claims Liverpool met with senior PSG officials at the weekend to sort out a move for the player.
There has been talk of a £10.5million fee for Digne, yet in these new reports no figure has been mentioned, yet the French champions willingness to allow conversation between the player and the buying club hints that a fee would not be too hard to negotiate, should it come to that.
The 22-year-old has his sights set on a place in the France squad for next summer’s European Championships on home soil and is reportedly willing to leave the reigning Ligue 1 champions in pursuit of regular first-team football during the upcoming campaign.
Despite Digne’s sadness at the situation, Get French Football News report that his agent is accelerating talks with Liverpool and is drawing up a provisional contract. The defender will wait to make a decision till early August, when he returns from US.
Brendan Rodgers has already been extremely busy in the transfer market but I suspect that if Digne does become his eighth signing of the summer, that could well be the end of this summer’s activity at Anfield.
