Liverpool injury news ahead of Arsenal visit
Liverpool manager Klopp is looking forward rather than back as he prepares to take on Wenger in English football for the first time.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger understands Jurgen Klopp moaning about the lack of a winter break and the number of games teams have to play in the Premier League, according to The Daily Star.
“It’s always a big challenge to play against a club like Arsenal”, he said.
“In this year we are only focused on trying everything to make a season that when we are old and grey we can look back and say it was really worth it”.
“But you don’t have to follow the Pato path any longer, that’s only private advice”. “We have shown a plan against good footballing teams”, the German said.
“My respect for Arsene Wenger grows day by day”.
Klopp has said repeatedly that Liverpool do not require an overhaul of their playing staff in the January transfer window, moving for Caulker only in response to his recent injury crisis. However, he added that Liverpool’s performance against Stoke in the League Cup was a sign that his side could produce the goods when needed.
Wenger is familiar to Klopp, who took on Arsenal six times in the Champions League when he was manager of Borussia Dortmund.
“It was good for me to see some players that have played less and to be down 1-0 and respond in the way we did and have an outstanding second half”.
Liverpool have been inconsistent so far under Klopp, but they have had some great wins against some top sides.
“The team who played on Friday night is not the team who will play against us”.
With league-leading Arsenal and arch-rivals Manchester United coming to Anfield, it’s easy to forget about all the injury problems and inconsistent results, and concentrate on enjoying the moment. A lot players left the club, guys like Patrick Vieira, leaders left the club and it was quite hard, but this policy started when they started the new stadium.
“I could say the truth and it’s no, but because I don’t want to talk about all of these rumours then I will say we won’t say anything until a contract is signed”.
Liverpool are decimated by injuries at present with Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho among those expected to miss Wednesday’s fixture and Klopp’s team had twice to come behind in order to draw 2-2 at Exeter in the FA Cup last weekend as a outcome.
