Liverpool legend says Jurgen Klopp would be ideal for the Reds
Former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp is now on a sabbatical but would be considered a strong favourite for the post if it became available, and ex-Red Hamann believes his compatriot would be the ideal man for the job.
Hamann feels Rodgers still has the club’s backing, yet is adamant that Klopp would be the flawless replacement if Liverpool were to part ways with their current manager.
However, should the Merseyside club decide to change managers, Savage says Klopp and Ancelotti are the best candidates to take over the role.
Brendan Rodgers is under increasing pressure at Liverpool following the Reds’ limp defeat at bitter rivals Manchester United and many Kopites have lost faith in the Irishman.
Hamann, who made 283 appearances for Liverpool, told Sky Germany: “The pressure in Liverpool gets bigger”. “The fans are on the barricades but [so far] the coach has been backed by the club, and now the question is, would Klopp move there during the season?”
The club’s former defender only signed a new three-year contract in SA1 this summer so any potential move to Liverpool would seem unlikely. Had they asked him before the season, I would have been 99 per cent certain that he goes there.
Guardiola came under pressure after suffering heavy Champions League semifinal defeats to Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively during his first two campaigns.
Liverpool are next in action at the weekend when they host newly promoted Norwich City at Anfield, a team they have put 21 goals past in their last four meetings.
“I am really very relaxed, but only because I know that in time I will be back coaching a team”, Klopp explained.
