Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hits back at Sam Allardyce’s criticism
Divock Origi, Jon Flanagan, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson, Jordan Rossiter, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings are already on Liverpool’s ever-lengthening injury list and Sunderland boss Allardyce has blamed the German’s training methods.
He said: “That is him [Klopp] asking his players to play a high-tempo pressing game from the top end”. “I’ll probably suffer some injuries by the end of next week when we’ve played three games in a short space of time”.
“I don’t think Jurgen has realised just how ferocious our league is at this period of time”.
In response, Klopp told reporters: “I knew about the Premier League”.
Klopp, to his credit, shrugged off the comments, saying Allardyce’s words were “absolutely not a problem”, and “a lot of people have said worse things about me”.
The Merseyside outfit have been left with no fit central defenders ahead of Friday’s trip to Exeter City, and they are reportedly looking to secure the 27-year-old on a short-term deal before the FA Cup clash at St. James Park, per David Maddock in the Mirror.
“We’re all suffering because of it”, he said. I am not a genius.
“For this you need players, a little bit of luck with injuries but we haven’t had too much of this”. Maybe the first game against Tottenham was more intensive. It’s about thinking quicker in the right position.
“At the moment there’s only time for recovery and the game is our best session in the week, or our only session”. We know about our situation. It is hard enough to find quality players, who are in a hard situation at their own clubs.
The tabloids are rife with speculation now that Klopp has opened up the possibility of bringing in defenders during the January transfer window.
