Liverpool striker to decide on Fiorentina move soon
The Italian striker, along with Mario Balotelli, has no future at the Anfield club and could be sold in the summer.
Fiorentina have slapped an ultimatum down for Liverpool forward Fabio Borini as they look to quickly ascertain whether the player is willing to join them this summer.
Fabio Borini has accepted his Liverpool FC career is over with a return to Serie A edging closer.
It was believed Fiorentina had agreed a deal to sign him, but Borini is dragging his heels because he wants to see if Lazio can edge past German side Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League play-off and move to the Rome-based outfit instead. “The priority is to buy a striker”.
This, of course, sounds like bad news for both Borini and the Reds.
Borini then rejected a lucrative permanent move to Sunderland – despite enjoying a fruitful loan spell in the North East in 2013-14.
Having opted to stay put, Borini was restricted to just five starts in all competitions last season with his only goal coming at Villa Park in January. With just under three-weeks left in the transfer window, time is running out for the striker to make a move, and though talks have taken place between the two sides, they don’t seem to be progressing quite fast enough – and now we know why.
Divock Origi, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino have all arrived – pushing Borini down the pecking order.
