Liverpool will win League Cup regardless of opposition – Klopp
Liverpool won a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Anfield on last night to reach their 12th League Cup final.
West Ham have beaten Liverpool twice already this season and go in search of a third at Anfield in the FA Cup fourth round.
Klopp will be back at Wembley for the first time since he led Borussia Dortmund there in the all-German Champions League final in 2013, won by Bayern Munich. That will be great for the whole city.
‘I might get one or two (messages from friends in Liverpool) but it’s strictly business at Wembley, ‘ Sterling said.
“If some people don’t like this competition, I don’t understand it”, the Brazil global said.
“Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but everyone up until now has been very friendly – they like that I’m here as we don’t have much success”.
“We told each other we had to be more composed on the ball, to want the ball and play out from the back, rather than hitting it long, which we did a few too many times. Hard work, but it is never easy to make a final so I take this game for what it is – difficult, but deserved.” he concluded.
Van Ginkel and Lucas Leiva scored, but Belgium global Mignolet – maligned for some shaky recent performances – plunged to his left to parry Muniesa’s spot-kick and Allen stepped up to settle the semi-final by planting the ball into the top-right corner.
Leading 1-0 courtesy of Jordon Ibe’s first-leg victor at the Britannia Stadium, Liverpool saw their advantage wiped out in first-half stoppage time at Anfield when Marko Arnautovic swept home a cross from Bojan Krkic despite appearing to be in an offside position. “Being in a final is cool – it’s the only possibility to win the final – but in the end it’s only about winning the final”.
“Being in the final is good, but the important thing is to win”.
“He came in and is a really good character and he decided the game for us”.
“Nobody gave us a chance – why they would do that I don’t know”.
John Terry’s last-minute equaliser for Chelsea in the 3-3 Premier League draw earlier this month was also allowed to stand, despite replays suggesting he was offside.
Everton leads 2-1 heading into the second leg on Wednesday.
