Local dancers prepare for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Macy’s will be holding it 89th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 26, Thursday, in which thousands of New Yorkers are expected to participate.
Despite the long, crowded practices, the dancers will get to sightsee with their chaperones.
“It’s nerve-racking each time”, Molly Harrison said.
Before the parade begins at 9 a.m., Elder said, the band and all of the performers will have to make a 3 a.m. dress rehearsal run through the parade route.

The two have been playing instruments together in band for several years.
Of course the best place to watch the floats are from the streets and larger-windowed apartments of NY City itself.
As Thanksgiving Day nears, the boys are getting more and more excited. “It’s every category that you would imagine”, said Lovinger.
The young Bainbridge jump ropers might have a lot on their mind as they prepare for the performance, but one worry they didn’t have was a terrorist attack… until Paris.
“I never thought I would get the chance to even go to NY City, let alone be in one of the biggest parades in the world”. She is among several parents who will walk alongside the jump ropers in the parade.
On Monday, NY state made that a bit easier, unveiling a new app called “See Something, Send Something” that allows cellphone users to alert authorities about suspicious packages or activity without having to know which law enforcement agency to contact. “I met so many new people from all over the country”, she said. Somehow we must have lost power for about five minutes overnight, and, it was just enough to upset the alarm clocks and, we were running late (just a bit.) We did manage to get to the airport with time to spare, so, there was no dramatic running through the terminal to catch the flight.
Vaughn went ahead of his parents to NY, accompanied by his grandmother and his sister.
Bonnie also noted it is not the first time the team has performed at the Macy’s parade during times of heightened security.
This year, just like last, they’ll find at least one Lawrencian amid the glitz and spectacle of the Big Apple tradition. Ram will not only help transport the larger-than-life floats down the Parade route, but will also assist in moving other Parade materials needed to produce the annual spectacle, from tool containers to costumes and much more in the lead up to the start of the procession on Thanksgiving day. “Through the #RamGivesThanks program, a deserving individual will receive money toward a lease of a new ProMaster City to help them continue their community volunteer efforts or to grow their small businesses”.
