Local Gun Shop Reacts to President’s Executive Orders
That’s why we are here today.
He once again asked Congress to be “brave enough” to pass measures that will do a better job of regulating gun sales, something he said has the support of most Americans.
“We don’t need to be talking past one another, but we do have to feel a sense of urgency about it”, he added. The group’s founder, Gerry Hills, told KTAR News’ Bruce St. James and Pamela Hughes that the president’s order brings about smart regulations for gun dealers without a federal firearm license, or FFL.
In that context, there’s nothing surprising or dramatic about President Obama’s recent move to require more background checks for more gun sales.
Gun rights advocate Nik Clark of Wisconsin Carry Inc. says instead of the word “loophole” he prefers the term “private party sale exception”.
“You can walk into a gun show, not fill out any paperwork, pay cash and you can walk out with an assault rifle or any kind of weapon you choose”, he said.
After processing the information, the database either allows the person to purchase the firearm, delays their purchase until a background check is clear, or denies the individual because of criminal history. “This is not a plot to take away everybody’s guns”.
Not to worry though, Obama says he has a grasp for how Constitutional law works.
During his speech Tuesday, the President became emotional, recalling mass shootings-especially at Sandy Hook Elementary School, an event which took the lives of 20 children and staff. “Every time I think about those kids, it gets me mad”.
However, a recent study carried out by Violence Policy Center or VPC revealed that states with weak gun violence prevention laws and higher rates of gun ownership have the highest overall gun death rates in the nation.
But these declarations of belief in the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms are challenged and undone by the fact that this very same president has heaped praise upon countries that availed themselves of confiscatory policies to get rid of guns altogether.
Part of the Obama Executive Order would be to have more ATF agents which costs money.
