Local Voters Head To The Polls On Election Day
It’s the first Tuesday of November and it’s also Election Day.
Officials say only about 23 to 40 percent voter turnout is expected in elections like these.
A technical oversight with York County’s election machines is allowing a single voter to vote for a certain candidate a couple of times in certain races, according to a county spokesman.
There were no major problems at Perry County polling places, said Suzanne Twilley of the county elections bureau.
“I’ve worked the polls since 2008 and we seem to have had more people turn out today than we did for the presidential election”, Smith said Tuesday.
She said things have been efficient.
Absentee ballots can still be accepted up to Monday, as long as they were postmarked at 5 p.m. on Election Day.
“If you feel something is important then you should come down and vote”, said Mesa County voter, Leah Fleharty.
The Board of Elections say this makes the voting process more secure and easier for everyone.
“We’re pretty happy with that”, she said. He’s seen notices at polling places telling people not to do it. During odd-numbered years, local races for offices such as port commissioner, school board director and city councilor dominate the ballot. Across the nation, people voted for their local council members, district judges and mayors.
The candidate who got the highest number of votes was declared class representatives.
Voters arriving will present their license, the poll worker will scan the barcode on the back which will bring up the voters information and space for them to electronically sign in.
