Locals in Le Mars participate in Small Business Saturday

Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall was busy with shoppers who opted for a more personalized experience compared to what they say they get at big box stores and in the Black Friday madness.
Giddens said the day is less mad and easier for them to get to know their customers.
Many people strolled the shops in the Five Points area, taking advantage of the deals while funneling money back into their own community.
Like many small businesses, Zeller’s one-on-one consumer approach doesn’t come with a big price tag. “It’s a much nicer feel to just go into unique shops and we do a little bit of our Christmas shopping as a family”, said Patrick.
American Express said it would continue to promote Small Business Saturday through local and national advertising. “A lot of our items for sale in our shop are actually handmade by local artisans”, said Diana Klawitter, the co-owner of House of Flowers. The online event platform is helping boost small businesses by featuring events and sales from partnering businesses. Small Business Saturday is all about bringing customers into the smaller, brick and mortar shops. She believes supporting local business helps the community grow stronger.
