Locals react to President Obama’s gun order
As the President made his announcement at the White House, several people from Colorado who lost loved ones to mass shootings stood with him.
A Fox News host, Andrea Tantaros said on-air that she would check Obama’s podium for a raw onion, implying that his tears were fake and throwing herself into a Twitter fire storm. “There’s a lot of heartache”.
“Every time I think about those kids, it gets me mad”.

They watched and listened as the President talked to the nation, now wanting to expand background checks for online and gun show sales and add more mental health treatment and research into gun safety technology. To deal with the expanded checks, 200 federal agents will be hired.
Boerio said gun bashes would likely not be affected by the president’s plan since those fundraisers are backed by licensed gun dealers and require background checks for anyone who wins any type of firearm at the event.
In the days after the terrorist attack that killed 14 people on December 2 in San Bernardino, California, Obama talked about its similarities with other mass shootings and said it showed the need for gun restrictions.
Leading Republicans predictably -and pathetically – mocked the president’s intentions. Marco Rubio (R-Florida).

Twitter user @justafarmer4 wrote: “I have been a gun owner for decades and fully support @POTUS in his thoughtful, reasonable and responsible efforts to #StopGunViolence”. “I wouldn’t sell to Joe Blow up the street because I don’t know where they came from and I want to make sure they didn’t rob a liquor store or planned to rob another liquor store with the gun I sold them”.
Increased mental health care is also another part of the plan.
Executive actions are not permanent and could be overturned if a Republican is elected president. But the modest steps Obama will announce stop well short of the type of large-scale changes to the gun trade that Congress rejected three years ago.
The anti-gunners say that the U.S.is right at the top when it comes to death and gun violence per capita.
