Locals react to uproar over Starbucks new holiday cups
A few Christians are angry at Starbucks because the plain red cups don’t depict Christmas imagery.
Feuerstein is encouraging people to tell Starbucks baristas their names are “Merry Christmas” so they write it on their cups.
Trump is upset because the Starbucks holiday cup is just plain red with the Starbucks logo. “This year’s design is another way Starbucks is inviting customers to create their own stories with a red cup that mimics a blank canvas”, the company said. According to the chain, the design was “meant to embrace the simplicity and the quietness of the holiday season”.
The red cups are a yearly tradition at Starbucks and this year they decided to make them a little simpler than years past.
Trump also said that he wouldn’t renew Starbucks’ lease to operate in his building, adding, “but who cares?”
Since 1997, the company has released the annual patterned “red cup”, in an event that has become something of a tradition for a few regular customers.
“Did you realize that Starbucks wanted to take Christ and Christmas off of their brand new cups?”
“It’s huge. People who don’t even go to Starbucks regularly, they come during the holidays because we have the red cups”, Starbucks employee Skylar Shelley said.
Feuerstein’s video has 12 million views and almost half a million shares on Facebook. “I have the most successful Starbucks in Trump Tower”.
“I decided instead of simply boycotting, lets start a movement”, said Feuerstein. “That I can tell you.”, declared Trump. One Breitbart columnist wrote, “Frankly, the only thing that can redeem them from this whitewashing of Christmas is to print Bible verses on their cups next year”.
I get that, as a world, we can be a little too politically correct for my liking.
“I wanted to throw Merry Christmas back on the cup, you know I’m all about it and I definitely am for the cause and I just think we should throw it back on the cup”, said Wood.
And Starbucks have insisted that there was no political or religious motivation for the design.
