Logan Couture Leaves Practice on Crutches
The Sharks though do have a nice core of young talent that will take over as Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski wait in the wings and if everyone continues to fire on all cylinders and Martin Jones continues to prove he belongs as a number one goaltender the Sharks will be tough to beat.
The Sharks left practice Thursday staring at the prospect of a most significant injury, as center Logan Couture departed the Prudential Center on crutches with a protective boot on his right foot and ankle.
“I don’t jump to any conclusions”, Wilson said Thursday afternoon.
During a five-on-five drill Couture went down in the corner and looked to be in significant pain. He was eventually helped off the ice by Brent Burns and Brenden Dillon, but was putting “no weight whatsoever” on his right leg.
The San Jose Sharks have been cruising along this season, but they may have experienced their first real bump in the road.
DeBoer’s new team, the San Jose Sharks, are off to 3-0-0 start heading into tonight’s game against the Devils, who are 0-3-0 under new head coach John Hynes and have yet to play with a lead. He was named an alternate captain at the end of training camp.
Since that tweet was sent out, the Sharks have been pretty silent on the matter – likely while the club awaits news on the extent of an injury to the 26 year old forward. This obviously isn’t good news for a San Jose team that has been great through their first three games to begin the 2015-16 season. Raffi Torres is serving a 41-game suspension and is not eligible to return to the National Hockey League until mid-January.
The Devils fired DeBoer in December, 36 games into a third consecutive non-playoff season that followed an unexpected Stanley Cup Finals run he oversaw in 2012.
Couture has just one assist but nine other San Jose players have notched goals, with the fourth line of Chris Tierney, Mike Brown and Barclay Goodrow accounting for two scores against Washington.
