Lok Sabha passes Indian Trusts (Amendment) Bill amid ruckus
On Wednesday, BJP’s Virendra Singh said while the Congress is talking about pain of farmers, Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia had no knowledge about farming and can not distinguish between bajra, jowar and wheat.
Earlier in the House, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue before Zero Hour, saying that his party had nothing against the judiciary, but questioned the government’s “intentions”, saying there were “two laws in the country – one for the ruling party and one for the Opposition”, citing cases against Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh and former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot.
The Congress MPs have in the last two days disrupted the Parliament with continuous protest over the National Herald case and alleged “vendetta politics” leading to repeated adjournments of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
“You are adopting the politics of revenge, repression and tyranny against opposition leaders. It also gave them good prices for their farm produce”, he said, asking Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu what the BJP government had done for agriculturalists since May 2014. This is happening not only with us but others like the TMC too.
“The way things are unfolding in the National Herald case, the Rashtriya Janata Dal is and will support the Congress to whatever extent it can. The Congress is trying to threaten the judiciary through the Parliament”, said Naidu. As soon as Speaker Sumitra Mahajan tried to proceed with the day’s business, the Opposition Members rushed into the Well without saying anything. After the House met again, the Congress protest continued, but the Question Hour went on amidst the din.
The National Herald issue cast its shadow over Lok Sabha on Wednesday also with Congress members continuously creating uproar in the midst of which the House conducted some business, including passage of a bill and discussion on the drought situation.
