London Muslims Condemning Paris Attacks
The vast majority of the global Muslim community is condemning the Paris terrorist attacks.
Imam Mustafa El-Amin, whose center is in Newark, said, “these radical terrorists are very damaging to our image and the greatest backlash is in people’s perception of us”. Islam forbids the killing of innocent civilians even during times of war. He says he felt compelled to speak out against the Paris attacks, after years of shying away from the press.
Ahmed says he invites the community to hold dialogues and get to know each other beyond the stereotypes and early judgement. “I, for one, can not for a moment comprehend why Pauline Hanson was on our television over the weekend speaking about these events and about Muslim Australians”.
“Our hearts go out to all the victims of this tragedy”, said Dr. Zia Khan, a Muslim.
Local Muslims are trying to educate others that ISIS is not Islam, and they are ramping up their efforts in light of last week’s ISIS attacks in Paris, which left at least 129 dead and hundreds more injured. The worldwide community should act with caution as the IS may have targeted France in order to provoke retaliatory attacks on innocent Muslims in the Middle East or halt the intake of Muslim refugees fleeing IS atrocities and escaping to safer countries.
Attacks carried out by ISIS and other terrorist groups should not divide communities, said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Minnesota.
So, now that ISIS has made it very clear to everyone why it’s attacking the West, you’d think that our politicians and elected leaders would do everything they can to not fall into its trap… right? All those with whom we spoke said the issues are far too complicated to be solved by a few of the slogans being mouthed by politicians seeking higher office. Bender tells us, “Muslims around the world, thousands of them have denounced this act of carnage, and American Muslims here represented by my organization… condemn this unequivocally”.
“We mustn’t allow extremist militant Islamists to represent the Islamic faith”, the minister said.
“Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Australia categorically rejects extremism and terrorism in any form and anywhere in the world”, he said.
