Long Valley library friends launch drive
Memberships are $5 for individuals and $10 for families.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Westland Library, the sale will be 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. Friday, September 18, and noon-3 p.m. Sunday, September 20, at the library, 6123 Central City Parkway, Westland.
Due to repairs at the William P. Faust Library, the fall used books sale has new hours. The county will also provide a full time library assistant.
Select books will be $2 per bag and others will be individually prices.
The library will also be hosting a Spring Book Sale in honor of National Library Week.
Smith stressed the importance of the Friends organization saying, the group does many wonderful things for us; things that the library system, as a government entity, may not necessarily be able or allowed to do.. Volunteers then sort and prepare the books and other donated items.
They will accept movies, both VHS and DVD, audio books, children’s books, teen books, and the full gamut of non-fiction and fiction.
Last year, Friends of the Library contributed $100,000 to the library’s programs, services and collections as a result of the efforts of member volunteers.
Cruz said she became a Friends board member due to her love of books, especially mysteries. The first was held in the spring of 1983, and this upcoming spring will mark the 33rd anniversary of the library book sale.
