Los Angeles auto Show begins Friday
Global debuts, innovation and new technology are part of every auto show and they will be again at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Thirty global debuts, including the new Hyundai Elantra, Jaguar’s first luxury sport utility vehicle and the Infiniti QX30 crossover, will be among highlighted vehicles at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Giulia Quadrifoglio is expected to set you back around $70,000, but official pricing hasn’t yet come down the pipeline from Alfa Romeo. First and foremost, Alfa Romeo has confirmed that the Giulia will reach local showrooms late in the second quarter of 2016.
Being dubbed as the “Ferrari for half price”, the Giulia is a very high-performance vehicle with 505 horsepower, 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine and claims a Nürburgring time of just 7:39, it’s safe to say it’s the quickest ever for a sedan.
Patience is a powerful virtue, and it seems that Alfa Romeo has been testing ours. According to Alfa, the Quadrifoglio will sprint from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds and have a top speed of 191 miles per hour.
And it has a manual transmission. Aluminum, magnesium and composite components contribute to the Giulia’s 50/50 weight distribution. The rear axle has torque vectoring to aid in handling and there is an active front splitter to increase downforce.
But that’s not the only version of the Giulia. Traditional cast iron brake rotors come as standard, but the carbon ceramic rotors will last longer, dissipate heat better and cut down rotor weight by 50 percent.
Inside, there’s plenty of leather, Alcantara, aluminum, and carbon-fiber.
Parent company Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) has huge ambitions for the Alfa brand of selling a few 400,000 units worldwide within the next three years.
“Like the sweet spot of a tennis racket, the 1962 to 1970 Giulias are considered the sweet spot in Alfas for the vast majority of us”, Berens said. With an unfortunate launch delay, don’t expect the Giulia before early 2017.
