Los Angeles doctor delivers baby on flight from Taiwan
Those were the remarks of a passenger who witnessed a woman giving birth to a baby girl on the China Airlines flight she was travelling on.
It appears momma and baby are doing just fine now, having been taken to an Alaska hospital while the flight once again took off for its final destination in El Lay.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – It was a honeymoon that Dr. Angelica Zen likely won’t ever forget, and not just because of the romantic Bali vacation. She spoke Mandarin with the Taiwanese mother.
According to Zen, everything went very well. “They tried to cover the whole row with blankets, but…”
Airport officials wouldn’t say how close the plane was to landing, but Zen noted it was making its approach when the baby arrived. Zen said the flight attendants acted as stand-in nurses, and one holding the baby cried.
A born on a plane from Taiwan to Los Angeles had a lot of people scurrying to make things easier for the mother. The baby born on the plane made a decision to come a lot earlier than expected!
“My training is in internal medicine pediatrics so we do adults and kids but really no pregnant woman at all, so since my training we haven’t done much OBGYN”, said Zen.
