Los Angeles Police look for “reverse” driver
The driver of an Audi was caught on camera driving backwards – yes, BACKWARDS – on busy, and curvy, Los Angeles streets.
Although there were no collisions, there were a few close calls when the reverse driver nearly veered into a pedestrian and oncoming traffic.
“It definitely was a shocker for me“, Kevin Zanazanian told CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS.
The auto reversed down Mulholland Drive and Laurel Canyon Boulevard for two miles towards Sunset Boulevard.
Police weren’t in the least impressed with the incident, calling the Audi driver’s antics “some of the most reckless driving investigators have ever seen“, as cited by the local channel.
He said there were two people in the auto: a man behind the wheel and a woman in the passenger seat.
In the four minute video, the Audi harrowingly navigated curves backwards, and at times crossed the double-yellow lines and barely missed oncoming traffic. The LAPD is now looking for the unidentified reverse daredevil, who could face numerous charges.
“Imagine if it was you or your family member driving and being struck by someone doing something irresponsible”, the sergeant said.
Since the auto had dealer plates, police plan to contact the dealership to track down the driver.
