Los Angeles police say mother and son suspected in Dodger Stadium assault
People tend to an injured person following a fight in the Dodger Stadium parking lot on October. 9, 2015.
Police said today that a mother and son are suspected of assaulting a man and leaving him critical condition outside of Dodger Stadium following last Friday’s playoff game against the Mets. KABC in Los Angeles says the injured fan, apparently a Mets rooter presumably because of what he was wearing, is in serious but stable condition at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center. He asked anyone who witnessed or took video of the fight, which referred to as a “scuffle”, to contact LAPD. Detectives planned on interviewing the victim Tuesday night but were unable to do so. He suffered brain damage.
Stow won an million judgment in 2014 after suing the Dodgers and former owner Frank McCourt, claiming that they were to blame for the attack because of insufficient security and lighting at Dodger Stadium. The two men responsible pled guilty to the charges, and were sent to federal prison. “Particularly for championship games or key rivalries, we deploy a significant amount of officers”.
The incident was eerily reminiscent of another fight at Dodger Stadium on Opening Day back in 2011 that left San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow with severe injuries.
The Dodgers lost the game 3-1, and are down in the series 1-2. “A lot is at stake”, he said. “You heard his skull hitting the concrete”, the witness told the L.A. Times.
