Louis Rams have invested two years into Nick Foles
The St. Louis Rams and quarterback Nick Foles have agreed on a new contract extension, the team announced on Friday.
According to the St. Louis Rams official site, the team has signed Nick Foles to a two-year extension. Value of the deal is more than $12m per year.
On the Rams’ end, they’re only paying $14 million in guaranteed money to find out if Foles is their quarterback of the future.
Originally drafted by the Eagles, Foles was traded to the Rams in March and immediately made a positive impact.
Foles is an upgrade from injury prone Sam Bradford and gives the team a chance to compete for a playoff spot in this upcoming season.
“It’s a good deal for us, good deal for him”, Rams’ head coach and one-time Eagles assistant Jeff Fisher said. In 2014, Foles missed half of the season due to a broken collarbone. “He wants to be here, and we want him here right now”.
“It’s what he’s done on the field early in his career thus far in the league, and then what he’s done for us since he got here”, Fisher said. The former Eagles quarterback was due $1.5 million in the final year of his rookie contract. Players are raving behind closed doors and in the locker room about Foles, about his work ethic, his leadership. He’s got Todd Gurley, who has the potential to be an elite running-back and is also backed by a defense that will certainly keep them in games. If he meets the requirements set within the contract together with his efficiency, he might theoretically even choose out of the ultimate yr of his deal and get to the subsequent contract sooner. “It’s one of those things that it’s not going to affect me when I play this game”. “We got a lot of situational stuff done”. I play it for my teammates, I play it for the people that support us, my family. “I’m just a small piece of the puzzle”.
