Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley returns to practice
The Rams rookie running back has been cleared to practice for the first time since being drafted by St. Louis with the No. 10 overall pick in April.
The staff had been easing into motion as he recovered from surgical procedure for a torn ACL suffered final November whereas he performed for Georgia. “Up to this point, he’s just participated in the 1-on-1s. We’ll take it slow, but it’s going to fun to get him on the practice field”.
“We had some really good tackles”, Fisher said. First the running back will be wearing a brace on his knee to protect it. The second, however, comes with a positive development for a fellow offensive player. “He was pleased with the results”. He may need a day off here or day, but it’s good news. “Dr. (James) Andrews was actually happy together with his progress, the best way he is slicing”.
“Don’t know”, Fisher said. The Rams are bringing Gurley along slowly, although they hope to have him play a role in his rookie year.
Wide receiver Brian Quick, rehabbing from shoulder surgery, could make his make his preseason debut Saturday against the Colts. That yellow hat will be worn by Gurley.
Fisher reiterated Monday that Gurley will not play in either of the Rams’ two remaining preseason games.
Additionally, Fisher said sixth-round pick Cody Wichmann has been taken off the PUP list, and will be able to participate in practice.
Fisher said Trey Watts, suspended for the first four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, will keep getting plenty of work in the preseason.
