Louis van Gaal feels Leicester City can win the Premier League
Louis van Gaal expects Jamie Vardy will be a “nasty” problem for Manchester United to tackle when they head to Leicester on Saturday night. The United manager however, was quick to defend Rooney, asserting that the veteran England striker is a valuable member of the team.
The eight-goal thriller between the two sides will certainly live long in the memory, but it is United who have dominated this fixture over the years with 10 wins from the past 11 league games.
When Manchester United boosted their squad in the summer, one position that most felt was covered was full-back.
But Seedorf, who played under his compatriot at Ajax, believes it is unfair to complain about Van Gaal’s philosophy as the former Barcelona boss has won trophies with every club he has managed.
Only Sir Bobby Charlton has scored more goals for United than Rooney, but he goes into the trip to Leicester on Saturday evening with just two in the Premier League this season as the club has struggled for goals.
Van Gaal and Marcos Rojo had a strained relationship earlier in the season, but Rojo has been featuring a bit more in the side as of late.
Van Gaal has developed a reputation as a methodical manager over the course of his career and Ferdinand insisted supporters should have seen the negative style of play coming.
“I’ve thought for some time that something could be done about it and after several conversations with my agent and my fiancee, Becky, we made a decision to set up V9 to unearth talent and give those players a shot – hopefully at earning professional contracts but also to learn what it takes to be a professional at the highest level”.
This has led to a completely unexpected encounter between the Foxes and the Red Devils, with the victor taking first place in the Premier League. After the game Louis van Gaal appeared pretty angry about the result, but less about their failure to make much of their possession, more that they lost control of the game.
He also knows first hand how deadly Vardy can be in front of goal.
PSV midfielder Davy Propper then fired straight at De Gea with a half-volley after playing some neat keepy-uppy before Jesse Lingard wasted a great chance to wrap it up for United at the other end after 73 minutes.
“But we are not giving much away”.
‘They control the ball a lot but we don’t necessarily need the ball to win matches. “That is why we are second in the league and in our Champions League group”.
