After the shooting, he said, Daigle wandered into the road and over to Vincent, asking if he was alive. “Let me tell you something, that shotgun wasn’t to do anything else but hurt somebody, kill somebody”. “You’re going to die soon”, he heard the man tell the trooper. Responding Troopers, law enforcement, and medical personnel from the area arrived at the scene shortly thereafter placing Daigle into custody and transporting Trooper Vincent via Acadian Air Med to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Daigle was also taken to a hospital, Anderson said but did not give further details. Kevin Daigle faces attempted first degree murder of a police officer charges.
“He struggled with the blokes who got here to help – had some scrapes on him and so forth”, Anderson stated.
He said both men are white.
Vincent was shot after receiving a call that Daigle was driving erratically and had drove his pickup truck into a ditch. 14 just outside Bell City where the trooper stopped to approach a vehicle in a ditch, detained the shooter around 2:43 p.m., said Anderson.
