Louisville recruit Lyle meets NCAA investigators
The UofL Foundation Executive Committee on Thursday morning selected Stites and Harbison to handle legal services related to the allegations.
But the next question is the future of Rick Pitino.
“Finally, the truth is out there, and instead of us talking about LLCs and boosters and the potential involvement of IU and United Kingdom, I hope this [revelation] has awakened the consciousness of the people to look at the exploitation of women and [student] athletes”, Keiffner said.
Earlier today, it was reported that JaQuan Lyle, a freshman at Ohio State, confirmed the allegations to the NCAA when he was recently interviewed. Louisville men’s basketball spokesman Kenny Klein had no comment on the report.
Lyle – once a Louisville commit – was interviewed on Tuesday in regards to his name being mentioned in a book about rules violations by the Louisville basketball program. OSU spokesman Dan Wallenberg confirmed via email that Lyle met Tuesday with the NCAA. He subsequently planned to play at Oregon but ultimately landed at Ohio State. Powell claims to have done 22 different shows for Cardinals players or recruits.
McGee left Louisville in 2014 for Missouri-Kansas City, which placed him on paid administrative leave Friday.
McGee denied the allegations through his attorney. The Louisville coach has, thus far, denied all knowledge of the escorts. McGee “loves the University of Louisville and would not do anything to hurt the image of the university”, Cox said.
“If you’re the University of Louisville, you don’t need any help with those artificial means to get players”, Pitino said.
“For the past 18 years, Tom Jurich has served as Athletic Director of an exemplary program at UofL”.
“As was stated last week, when we learned of the allegations toward our men’s basketball team, we immediately hired Chuck Smrt of the Compliance Group to undertake a complete and thorough investigation of the alleged misconduct”, Ramsey said.
“Been a long time since we’ve been up to U of L to do a show”.
